Video: The Big bang Theory – great show! begins Sept. 23

“What do you get when cross 4 nerds and a hot girl in the same apartment building across the hall from each other?”

This is not necessarily a joke, but it is The Big Band Theory, a great show on CBS, now moving to Thursdays in fall 2010 — and the first show begins in about two weeks on September 23.

Here is a clip from the last season of “When Leonard met Sheldon.”

My wife and i enjoy the show and like streaming shows over Hulu and Netflix, but CBS shows are a little stingy and are VERY concerned about hackers taking their programming and will not stream more than 2 of the past episodes, and with our busy lives we end up missing some shows. — And my wife HATES missing a show and then watching a season with gaps… So, if we get behind, then we are sunk until in comes out on DVD and then it’s impossible to catch up to a regular season.

Anywho, we are looking forward to the upcoming season of many shows, including shows like this, the Big Band Theory.. See more clips from this episode here.

You can be a superhero, just like Batman and Robin

POW!” “ZAM!” “PUNCH!” “KICK!” — “Holy Guacamole Batman! Are those our shoes?”

Are you having a hard time growing up? I think that we all have that syndrome to some extent. All you’d need to complete that 60s superhero look are tights and a cape!… (Hmmm… Thinking… maybe I will….)

Brass Monki did the DC Comics-loving sneaker enthusiasts a solid with theses awesome Batman and Robin-themed kicks.

Currently, the superhero shoes are just a prototype, but hopefully they’ll be made available soon. Read more about this on Alltop.com or on Neatorama.

and if you think this is interesting, you should see the Bacon air freshener! Yes, I did say air freshener and bacon in the same sentence!

Steve Jobs may need to brush up on his lightsaber skills and enlist the help of a Wookie because Darth Vader doesn’t seem too pleased about the iPhone 4’s slew of reception problems.

(video) OK Go – This Too Shall Pass – Rube Goldberg Machine

May 18th, 2010    Posted in General Blog, Video Clips

Ok Go - Rube Goldbern ExperimentIn high school, I took a physics class where we did a Rube Goldberg experiment. Everyone in the class did this by splitting up into groups and coming up with ideas for our projects. In simple terms, a rube goldberg project is something that takes many actions, to come out with one final action. Often the many actions use simple machines/tools (such as a wheel, wedge, weight, levy, etc.) to help produce your final end result.

(Our group, by the way, made up of Wilson Wise, David Townsend, and Amanda Gibbs (maybe?) put together a rube goldberg where the final result was to open a PEZ dispenser). It was fun, I think.)

When put to music, and done all in one take — wow! –  you can get a great result! See this video from the band Ok Go. (This video, at the time of the posting, out after only 2 months has received about 13 million views on youtube. That is pretty outstanding!)

To learn more about the American cartoonist Rube Goldberg and how these fun projects have come to be known as “Rube Goldberg Experiments,” see the Rube Goldberg Wikipedia page.

NBC Show Community with Joel McHale and Chevy Chase is a win in my book!

April 8th, 2010    Posted in General Blog, Video Clips

I am a fan of select TV show, and I think that the most of the current shows that come on NBC Thursday are a pretty good and funny… But then, others might not think the same as me. I really get and enjoy the cringing, hard to watch, awkward situation American comedies like The Office, with Rainn Wilson and Steve Carell, and Parks and Recreation, with Amy Poehler. (Personally, I would love a simple walk on part to one of these shows, but that is just me. I enjoy “awkward-type” acting myself. :-)

Overall, The Office is sumber one in my book. I have seen every single episode and am bummed when it’s not in my queue on Hulu.com.

But a great up and coming show that I have enjoyed seeing blossom and develop is Community. (I was telling my wife about this show, which she has not watched since she watches another show at the same time on CBS — CSI, I think? — so, she hasn’t watched it and gotten into like I have.)

Community - Troy and Abed

While the plot line of Community works adn has been developing overtime, what really works is the ever developing cast of characters, both growing in numbers, but also in likability and humor. There are some great, and well known actors in this show, like Chevy Chase and lead character Joel McHale, known best as host of E!’s The Soup.  Two of the ones that I’ve grown to like are Abed and Troy; their male bonding through “end of the show” quirks just adds so much more to the enjoyment of their relationship as characters on the show. — Abed, played by Danny Pudi, is probably one of the funniest characters on the show and extremely talented in timing and versatility. Would love to meet this guy one day!

To give an example, see the clip below — which overall had very little ties to the rest of the plot of the show, but it still was very very funny! (At least to this comedy critic).

And just one more clip for kicks is this one where, again it had nothing to really do with the plot of the show, but the humor, especially with the eating of the cookies and pretending to be Sesame Street Puppets Bert and Ernie, was great!
