(Video) Choosing Thomas — Inside a family’s decision to let their son live, if only for a brief time. Would you, in this situation, choose life?

Okay, so get out the tissues, while you sit to watch a video that you have to see. Have you ever seen the video 99 balloons? (I blogged about it about a year ago). Well, this is just as good, and sad — but makes you grateful for the life and the children that you already have…
Twenty weeks into their pregnancy, T. K. and Deidrea Laux found out that their son had Trisomy 13—a rare DNA abnormality. After being counseled that “terminating the pregnancy” would be an option, they chose life. In Deidrea’s own words:
“We didn’t not terminate because we were hanging on to some sort of hope that there was a medical mistake or there was gonna be some sort of medical miracle. We didn’t terminate because he’s our son.”
The Dallas Morning News has produced this video chronicling the birth and home-going of Thomas after just 5 short days — even longer than most baby’s with his condition live. This is an amazing story of love and life, and you need to watch it.
The good news is that about one year after Thomas’ life ended, earlier this January, the Laux family were blessed with the birth of a healthy baby daughter. To the family who thought that they would never be parents, God’s grace is sufficient.

(VIDEO) Have you heard of Zac Smith? He lost his battle to cancer yesterday, but ‘God is still God and He is still good’

I made a post back in March of this year. It was the story of Zac Smith.
Zac died yesterday.
This video is story of Zac Smith‘s battle with cancer, the love of his wife and children, and how he, despite his fervor for life and desire for living for God and his family, he knows that whether he lived or died that God would still be God, and God would still be good.
Zac’s message is an inspiration to everyone to live life, love each moment we have, and make each second count.
Video: Patrick was born blind and still does it. What have you got to complain about?

Saw this video of a young man, not too much younger than me, and thought I would post the video.
If he can live well and with such a good attitude about life, despite the difficulties — and if his dad can do it with such fervor and passion, what do we have to complain about?
Article from MichaelHyatt.com
Born without eyes and with a tightening of the joints that prevents his limbs from ever straightening, Patrick has been blind and crippled from birth. Yes, despite these “disabilities,” he was playing requests on the piano at age two. As he grew older, his musical genius became evident. Along the way, he also become an accomplished trumpet player.
As I watched this video, I jotted down three take-aways:
- Attitude is everything. Patrick doesn’t see his physical constraints as disabilities. In fact, he refers to them as abilities. Jason Fried, in his new book, Rework, says “Constraints are advantages in disguise. Limited resources force you to make do with what you’ve got. There’s no room for waste. And that forces you to be creative.”
- Sometimes you just need a little help. The University of Louisville, where Patrick is a student, wanted him to play in the marching band. Only problem was that he couldn’t walk, let alone march. He was confined to a wheelchair. So, his dad agreed to attend all the practices and push him around the football field so Patrick could play his trumpet.
- You have to focus on what you have. Patrick says, “God made me blind and unable to walk. Big deal. He gave me the musical gifts I have and and the great opportunity I have to meet new people.” He doesn’t whine about what he doesn’t have. He is grateful for what he has. Unlike so many people today, there’s not an ounce of entitlement in his voice.
Stories like Patrick’s are inspiring. He is taking his “five loaves and two fish” and feeding a multitude with inspiration. How about you? What are you doing with what you have been given?
Question: What did you take away from this video?
NEWS: Child Tax Credit Being Taken Away for Families with Stay At Home Parents
February 5th, 2010
Posted in General Blog
We just received an email from the family research council stating that Obama is trying to change the child tax credit to only include families where both parents are working, or if it is a single parent working, or if one parent is working and the other is in school.
Basically, all families that choose to have one parent stay home to care for their children will no longer receive a tax break.
If you feel the way I do, that parents should be able to choose how their children are cared for and not get penalized for it than please go to this link http://www.taxcreditforfamilies.org and sign the petition!

I found this online through a friend’s website. It’s decently produced and it’s neat to me since these are the people at the new church that my wife and I started going to several weeks ago, The Oaks Fellowship in Red Oak, Texas. (theoaksonline.com)
This video is titled “God of Impossible.” Enjoy!
